Job summary

The Hartford is hiring a Data Reliability Engineer to safeguard data integrity across our pipelines and products. As a key partner to the SRE team, you will apply reliability patterns to data flows and automate validation, reprocessing, and recovery processes.

You will operate in a hybrid model, working onsite 3 days a week at Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; and Charlotte, NC, coordinating with data engineers and product teams to ensure timely, trustworthy insights for downstream

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in infrastructure, data, or related tech.
• 3+ years in data engineering, data quality, or SRE within an enterprise.
• Hands-on with Snowflake, AWS/GCP, and data pipelines.
• Experience with SSIS/SSMS, Informatica, Python/Pyspark, and EMR/Hadoop.

Responsibilities

• Establish Data Service Level Objectives for data freshness and accuracy.
• Implement data observability to monitor the entire data journey.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to embed reliability in pipelines.
• Automate data validation, reprocessing, and backfilling tasks.
• Lead incident management for data-related issues and post-mortems.
• Develop automated runbooks for data pipeline failures and recovery.
