Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Security Analyst — Master to lead design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise security controls protecting data, networks, applications, and cloud environments. This senior individual-contributor role requires deep hands-on expertise with the Palo Alto Networks portfolio—firewalls, Panorama, Cortex, and Strata—and strong Cisco networking capabilities.

This position will be located within the United States and will be a fully remote opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years experience in cybersecurity or related field.
• Extensive hands-on firewall administration with Palo Alto firewalls in complex environments.
• Proficient with Panorama and Strata; experience with Cortex for detection, investigation, and automation.
• Strong Cisco networking knowledge across routing, switching, VPN, and security.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, 800-53, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder explanations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage Palo Alto firewalls across data centers, campus, branch, cloud, and remote sites.
• Lead centralized firewall management using Panorama and templates.
• Design security policies with least privilege, App-ID, User-ID, and encryption controls.
• Develop detections, dashboards, and response playbooks using Cortex tooling.
• Collaborate with Security Operations Center and cross-functional teams on incident response.
