Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Security Analyst — Master to lead enterprise security controls across data, networks, and cloud environments. The role requires hands‑on expertise with Palo Alto Networks, including next‑gen firewalls, Panorama, Cortex, and Strata, plus strong Cisco security capabilities.

The position is fully remote within the United States, with no on‑site requirement. Candidates should have 12+ years in cybersecurity and demonstrated leadership in complex enterprise security programs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in cybersecurity, network security, security engineering, or security operations; hands‑on firewall administration and incident response.
• Deep expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls in complex enterprise environments.
• Advanced experience with Panorama for centralized policy administration and HA workflows.
• Strong experience with Strata for NGFW architecture, App‑ID, User‑ID, and policy optimization.
• Experience with Cortex for analytics, EDR/XDR/SIEM, and automation.
• Strong Cisco networking background and related security technologies.
• Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and optimize Palo Alto firewalls across data centers, campuses, and cloud environments.
• Lead centralized firewall management using Panorama and enforce configuration standards.
• Design and tune security policies with least privilege and advanced threat protections.
• Lead Cortex deployments for analytics, EDR, and automation; develop detections and response playbooks.
• Coordinate with Cisco teams to integrate secure routing, VPN, and access controls.
• Review firewall/change requests and perform regular rulebase reviews and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate network security diagrams and runbooks; participate in incident response.
