Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Senior Network & Security Engineer to lead design, operation, and troubleshooting of enterprise network-security infrastructure in a fully remote role within the United States.

The role focuses on Palo Alto NGFW environments, Panorama management, high-availability deployments, and integration with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service. You will mentor engineers and drive security policy design.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in network engineering, network security, firewall administration, or security infrastructure operations.
• 5+ years hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in a production enterprise environment.
• Advanced operational experience with Palo Alto Panorama, device management and troubleshooting.
• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto High Availability deployments.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and packet-level troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Panorama (device groups, templates, upgrades, backups).
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using security zones and VLANs.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, apps, and cloud resources.
• Architect HA deployments and test failover and upgrades.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects and incidents.
