Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for Market Evaluation to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and develop predictive analytics. You will partner with the Digital Technology team to move analytics into scalable solutions, including dashboards, alerts, and automated pipelines.

The role emphasizes end-to-end project leadership, collaboration on market outcomes, and building tools that support better decision-making in a complex energy market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in economics, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years in data science, analytics, or related disciplines.
• Strong programming and analytics with Python, R, SAS, EViews or VBA.
• Experience with ML/AI predictive analytics: regression, forecasting, clustering, deep learning.
• Experience with NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.
• Experience building dashboards with Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, or Streamlit.
• Proficient with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and Git, data management, ETL, warehousing.

Responsibilities

• Use statistical, economic, and advanced data analysis to uncover market patterns.
• Develop forward-looking and predictive analytics for trends and issues.
• Build automated alerts, dashboards, and analytical tools for complex data.
• Lead end-to-end data science projects from scope to delivery.
• Investigate market outcomes using data queries, MISO systems, and simulations.
• Contribute insights and identify opportunities to improve market performance.
