Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) invites a Senior Data Scientist – Market Evaluation to transform large market data into actionable insights. You will build predictive analytics, dashboards, alerts, and end-to-end data science projects with the Digital Technology team, influencing grid reliability and market performance.
We seek a PhD/Masters background in data science or economics, 8+ years in analytics, and strong Python/R skills, ML frameworks, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud experience.
You will work with large and complex datasets to identify trends and anomalies, investigate market and operational outcomes, and develop forward‑looking analytics that help MISO better understand what is happening in the market — and what may happen next. You will also partner closely with MISO’s Digital Technology team to move analytics from an idea to a scalable solution, building pipelines, dashboards, alerts, and predictive tools that support better and faster decision‑making.
Even better if you have experience with energy market forecasting and analysis, power system operations, statistical or econometric analysis, electricity market design, or related software development. Previous experience with a Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), Independent System Operator (ISO), utility, or other energy market participant would be especially valuable.
