Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking a Sr Data Scientist Analyst to report to the Head of Underwriting, Crop Analytics. This role offers hybrid work from Schaumburg, IL or Anoka, MN or remote for the right candidate.

You will build and refine models for crop insurance, integrate external data sources, and analyze product profitability across counties and crops. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years in predictive analytics, with proficiency in Hadoop/Hive/Pig/Java/SQL/Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or Technology.
• 8+ years of experience in the Predictive Analytics area.
• Experience with data transformation techniques: exact and probabilistic matching; fuzzy matching; text mining.
• Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Java, SQL, and Python.

Responsibilities

• Build and/or enhance models for crop insurance business.
• Identify and integrate external data sources for predictive analytics.
• Analyze and report on crop products requiring modeling for RMA pricing, yield, and performance.
• Refresh profitability models at county and crop level to determine strategic appetite.
• Monitor and streamline premium estimation models.
• Lead maintenance and enhancements of fund designation models.
• Do scenario modeling on various RMA products to determine impact on profitability.
• Manage Review Project - analyzing historical data, state mix, county plan level, and industry data.
