Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Staff Data Platform Architect to design and govern scalable data platforms on cloud infrastructure. You will lead productized APIs, governance, and reusable frameworks while mentoring data engineering teams.

This leadership role requires deep experience with GCP, data modeling, stream processing, and CI/CD pipelines. Hybrid work near Dearborn, MI is available, with a strong focus on developer experience and strategic roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive technical experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise-scale data engineering.
• 5+ years designing and operating end-to-end data platforms on cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• 5+ years of practical development experience in Python, SQL, and Java (or Go/Bash) for pipelines and automation.
• 1+ year leading a centralized developer ecosystem or templating framework.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable data platform solutions on GCP to support analytical, operational, and real-time use cases.
• Lead cloud data integration and streaming pipelines with Pub/Sub, Beam, and Kafka.
• Design and productize secure RESTful and gRPC APIs exposing platform services and data products.
• Enforce schema-first governance with Protobuf and central registries.
• Build reusable platform frameworks and templates to bootstrap data pipelines and microservices.
