Job summary

The Trade Desk seeks a Staff Product Manager to own data catalog governance and metadata infrastructure across its platform. You will translate privacy requirements into product features, manage schema evolution, and drive access controls for internal data users across hybrid environments.

You will collaborate with legal, privacy, and engineering teams to ensure compliant data usage while maintaining scalable, enterprise-grade catalog capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product management experience focused on data platforms, data governance, regulatory compliance, or closely related domains in a complex software or ad tech environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of modern data catalog and metadata management tools and what it takes to build or adopt them at scale.
• Deep understanding of GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and emerging privacy frameworks with experience translating requirements into data product and infrastructure needs.
• Technical fluency across data infrastructure: distributed data pipelines, event-driven systems, data modeling, API design, and access control models.
• Experience building products on or alongside Databricks (Unity Catalog, Delta Lake), Vertica, Snowflake, or equivalent platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for schema evolution and versioning, ensuring compatibility with downstream systems.
• Define requirements for drift detection tooling to monitor real-time schema changes across data inputs.
• Build the semantic mapping layer linking technical schemas to business terms in a centralized glossary.
• Define requirements for column-level lineage tracking from source to reports.
• Own the strategy for tagging data assets to enable discoverability, access control, and downstream activation.
• Define the data asset taxonomy and classification framework including PII and regulatory tags.
• Drive platformization of data assets so they are inventoried, annotated, and accessible with privacy constraints embedded.
