Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the Data Platform team to build the data foundation powering its healthcare decision intelligence platform. You will design and deliver production data pipelines using Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and Python within a unified framework that emphasizes governance and quality.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement automated validation and observability, and help evolve architectural direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, building and owning production data pipelines.
• Strong Snowflake experience, including streams and tasks, warehouse sizing and performance tuning, SQL optimization, and RBAC concepts.
• Production experience with dbt and Airflow, including how to structure models and DAGs for maintainability.
• Strong programming in Python and deep SQL proficiency.
• Solid data modeling skills for multi-consumer schemas and shared models.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own data pipelines in our unified framework using Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Implement the canonical data model in production and contribute to architectural direction.
• Build automated data quality checks and validation into pipelines to catch defects early.
• Instrument pipelines for observability including freshness and lineage.
• Empower consuming teams with governed output and self-service data capabilities.
• Collaborate with invoicing, analytics, and reporting teams to translate requirements into data.
• Migrate and consolidate data workloads onto the unified framework without disrupting consumers.
• Participate in on-call rotations for pipeline incidents and post-incident reviews.
• Maintain high engineering standards: version control, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical level of the team.
