Job summary

Lyric is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for the Data Platform team. You will build the data foundation for Lyric’s products, designing and delivering production pipelines with Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and Python.

You’ll own the canonical data model, implement data quality checks, and ensure observability and governance across a multi-tenant environment. You will collaborate with the Principal Data Engineer and partner with analytics, invoicing, and reporting teams to translate needs into reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, building and owning production data pipelines.
• Strong Snowflake experience, including streams and tasks, warehouse sizing and performance tuning, SQL optimization, RBAC, clustering, and micro-partitions.
• Production experience with dbt and Airflow, including model/DAG structuring for maintainability.
• Strong Python and deep SQL proficiency.
• Solid data modeling skills for multi-consumer schemas and shared vs consumer-specific extensions.
• Experience building testing and data quality validation into pipelines.
• Disciplined engineering practices: version control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD.
• Ability to work with non-engineering data consumers and communicate constraints clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own data pipelines in our unified framework using Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Implement the canonical data model in production and contribute to architectural direction.
• Build automated validation and data quality checks into pipelines at defined stages.
• Instrument pipelines for observability: freshness, lineage, and failure alerts.
• Enable self-service data delivery to consuming teams with governed output.
• Collaborate with invoicing, analytics, and reporting teams to translate needs into reliable data.
• Migrate and consolidate existing workloads onto the unified framework without disruption.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident reviews for fixes.
• Maintain high engineering standards: version control, testing, code review, CI/CD, documentation.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical level across the team.
