Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform to shape and lead the technical strategy across data ingestion, processing, warehousing, streaming, and serving systems. You will align with product, analytics, ML, privacy, security, and compliance to build platform-grade infra powering fraud detection and AI workloads.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed data infrastructure.
• End-to-end technical strategy and architecture ownership across multiple teams.
• Deep systems thinking across the data lifecycle emphasizing performance, cost, security, and privacy.
• Experience designing data systems for ML pipelines, real-time inference, or AI workloads at scale (CDC, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Platform mindset with product-manager orientation toward reducing developer friction.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for Data Platform, guiding ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving while reducing infrastructure cost.
• Architect data infra to support AI/ML workloads including training, feature stores, real-time inference, and multi-agent AI at scale.
• Advance near-real-time data availability for downstream teams in fraud, finance, and analytics.
• Align senior leadership and cross-functional partners on priorities and tradeoffs.
• Be the primary technical voice for Data Platform in OKR planning and architecture reviews.
