Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Platform team to build systems centralizing internal and third-party data for analytics, ML, and end-user experiences at scale.

You will own design, development, and operation of data services across warehouses, lakes, orchestration, batch and streaming processing, and real-time stores, partnering with analysts, security, and product teams to deliver reusable data patterns.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering with production data pipelines experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for building data services at scale.
• Experience with scale-out architectures, caching, and columnar storage.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka in production.
• Experience with data security, access control, or data observability systems.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and operation of data services spanning warehouses, lakes, orchestration, batch/stream processing, and real-time stores.
• Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used across Coinbase.
• Deliver self-service apps for users to manage and monitor data pipelines.
• Architect data security, observability, cataloging, lineage, and usage auditing.
• Collaborate with analysts, ML engineers, and security to create reusable data patterns.
