Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform team. You will define the technical strategy for data ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving systems, guiding multi-quarter roadmaps and moving the organization toward platform-grade infrastructure.

You will architect data infrastructure to support AI/ML workloads, enable real-time inference, and power multi-agent AI architectures.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed data infrastructure.
• Record of owning end-to-end technical strategy and architecture across multiple teams.
• Deep systems thinking across the full data lifecycle (performance, reliability, cost, security, privacy).
• Experience designing data systems for ML pipelines, feature stores, real-time inference, or AI workloads; familiar with CDC, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for Data Platform across ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving.
• Architect data infrastructure to natively support AI/ML workloads and real-time inference at scale.
• Drive near-real-time data availability for downstream teams to act on fresher data for fraud detection and analytics.
• Build alignment with senior leadership and cross-functional partners on technical priorities and tradeoffs.
• Serve as the primary technical voice for Data Platform in OKRs, architecture reviews, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
