Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform. You will define and lead the technical strategy for our data infrastructure, spanning ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed data infrastructure.
• End-to-end technical strategy and architecture ownership across multiple teams.
• Deep systems thinking across data lifecycle including cost and security.
• Experience designing data systems for ML pipelines, real-time inference, or AI workloads.
• Platform mindset focused on reducing developer friction and enabling scale.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight and measurable gains.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for Data Platform across ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving.
• Architect data infrastructure to support AI/ML workloads including feature stores and real-time inference.
• Advance near-real-time data availability for fraud, finance, and analytics teams.
• Secure commitment from senior leadership and cross-functional partners on priorities and tradeoffs.
• Be the primary technical voice for Data Platform in org-wide forums and architecture reviews.
