Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Platform team. You will help build systems that centralize internal and third-party data, enabling analytics, ML, and end-user experiences.

Expect to work on data storage, processing, and scalable pipelines across the platform. You will own end-to-end data services, collaborate with analysts and security teams, and contribute to secure, observable data platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in production systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for backend development.
• Experience with data infrastructure patterns (scale-out, caching, columnar storage).
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka in production environments.
• Experience with data security, access control, or observability (cataloging, lineage, quality).
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and operation of foundational data services (data warehouses, data lakes, orchestration, batch/streaming systems).
• Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs for internal services and product teams.
• Deliver self-service apps for users to manage and monitor data pipelines on platform infrastructure.
• Architect end-to-end data security, access controls, lineage, and data quality monitoring.
• Collaborate with analysts, ML engineers, and security/compliance teams to convert requests into scalable data patterns.
