Job summary

Rocket Software is seeking a Principal Sales Engineer to drive mainframe-to-cloud migrations and engage with customers on complex data challenges. You will lead technical demonstrations and proofs of concept, articulating benefits to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The role supports AEs and partners, leveraging deep enterprise software and cloud/database knowledge to grow revenue. Collaboration and independence are valued in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years in sales engineering or presales.
• Strong background in mainframe/IBMi.
• Experience with large-scale data migrations.
• Knowledge of IBM Db2, IMS, VSAM and cloud databases (Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift).
• Familiarity with ETL and CDC technologies.
• Ability to explain complex tech to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Engage with prospective clients to understand data integration challenges migrating from mainframe to cloud.
• Present and demonstrate Rocket Software solutions, articulating technical benefits and integration capabilities.
• Demonstrate value with proofs of concepts and modern data/AI tech trends.
• Convey technical details to both non-technical and highly technical audiences, building credibility.
• Assist in qualifying opportunities by understanding user requirements and technical environments.
• Participate in training and mentoring of Sales Engineering team members.
• Handle objections professionally and progress opportunities toward close.
