Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Infra organization in San Mateo, CA. You will design, build, and scale the distributed data platforms powering analytics, ML, and product decisions.

You will own core platform components, collaborate with infra, data science, and product engineering teams, and drive robustness on Kubernetes across clouds, with opportunities to embed AI/ML capabilities for data discovery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production-grade, large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep technical experience with at least 1-2 core data tech such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Trino, Druid, Airflow or Data Catalog.
• Strong backend programming in Java, Go, or Scala.
• Cloud fluency with Kubernetes on AWS or GCP.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and design 1-2 key data platform frameworks within our stack.
• Collaborate with infra, data science and product engineering to align platform capabilities with governance and requirements.
• Optimize performance, memory, and serialization for throughput under heavy load.
• Lead the lifecycle of next-gen infrastructure features on Kubernetes across clouds.
• Embed AI/ML capabilities for data discovery and autonomous platform interactions.
