Job summary

Nucleus Security, Inc. is seeking a Staff / Principal Data Engineer to shape the architecture behind our data platform. This senior role combines technical leadership with hands-on implementation to solve large-scale data problems in vulnerability management.

You will guide ingestion, normalization, transformation, and analytics, building scalable models and pipelines. Expect close collaboration across teams to deliver high-performance data systems and reliable data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering, data engineering, or data platform experience.
• Deep expertise in relational and analytical data modeling.
• Expert-level SQL for large datasets.
• Experience with SingleStore/MemSQL, Spark, Flink, and distributed SQL/analytical databases.
• Ability to design high-throughput data pipelines and job processing systems.
• Strong programming with Python or Java.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and evolution of large-scale data processing and analytics systems.
• Design and evolve data models for high-volume analytical workloads.
• Design and optimize complex analytical SQL queries.
• Architect distributed and asynchronous job processing systems.
• Drive Spark, Flink-based data processing workflows.
• Lead schema design, indexing, and partitioning with SingleStore/MemSQL.
• Define patterns for batch processing, transformation, and reprocessing.
• Diagnose performance issues across databases and processing layers.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate requirements.
• Define technical standards and reusable data patterns.
• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with implementation.
• Identify architectural limitations and lead scalability improvements.
