Job summary

Sedgwick is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Kentucky to design and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-prem and cloud sources. You will be a core Snowflake developer, optimizing data modeling and storage structures, and advancing dbt AI features.

Responsibilities include building transformation pipelines, developing semantic layers, and guiding decentralized teams with CI/CD practices. Mentorship of one data engineer is expected, with potential growth across the data group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and work experience will be considered.
• Five (5)+ years of dedicated data engineering experience required.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience moving data across hybrid on-prem to cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines supporting batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven data movement from on-premises and cloud sources.
• Core developer for the Snowflake data platform; supports performance, data modeling, and storage structures.
• Architects and builds transformation pipelines delivering high-quality inputs to Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Designs semantic layers and metadata models for Self-Service 2.0 natural-language interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD best practices for decentralized teams.
• Provides direct management and mentorship to one data engineer and guides analysts in engineering practices.
• Drives adoption of dbt and evaluates AWS/Azure data tools to optimize data flow.
