Job summary

General Motors (GM) is seeking a senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize industrialized data assets and pipelines in support of BI and analytics. The role is hybrid, with expected in-person work at the Austin Technical Center or GM Global Tech Center in Michigan several days a week.

You will lead end-to-end data engineering efforts, leveraging Fivetran, Databricks, Kubernetes, and cloud services to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that improve plant operations and manufacturing

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering/development experience with Python/Scala and SQL
• 3+ years in distributed data processing (Spark) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Experience with Fivetran, cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also), and CI/CD
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop/Hive/HBase/ADLS or S3) and data modeling

Responsibilities

• Assemble large, complex data sets to meet business requirements
• Design and optimize scalable data pipelines using Fivetran, Spark, and Databricks
• Lead data-driven solutions across languages, tools, and platforms
• Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure SLA compliance
