Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable real-time and batch data pipelines for high-performance motorsport programs. You will own Kafka/Flink components and Databricks lakehouse deployments, driving architectural decisions with a focus on resilience and security.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Python and/or Java.
• Experience with event streaming technologies like Kafka, Event Hubs, or Confluent.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience deploying containerized apps with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL (Postgres, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience with Agile development and SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time and batch data pipelines ingesting telemetry, simulation, and trackside data.
• Own components of Kafka/Flink streaming architecture and Databricks lakehouse implementations.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure secure, scalable data delivery and high-quality software.
• Mentor peers and drive code quality, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Perform performance tuning and documentation for data platforms.
