Job summary

General Motors is seeking a senior Data Engineer focused on Fivetran to design and optimize industrial data pipelines supporting BI and analytics. You will lead cross-functional efforts, work on real-time plant data, and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions across cloud platforms and on-prem components.

The role blends software engineering with data engineering, requiring collaboration, mentorship, and adherence to agile practices. Expect a hybrid schedule across TX and MI locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in data engineering with Python/Scala, SQL, and data storage.
• 3+ years in Spark and Kubernetes; strong streaming with Kafka.
• Experience with Fivetran, cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Solid CI/CD and big data tech exposure; data modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble large, complex data sets to meet business needs.
• Design and optimize end-to-end data pipelines with Fivetran.
• Lead data-driven solutions across languages/tools, ensure SLA.
• Develop scalable batch/streaming pipelines with Databricks.
• Collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions.
• Maintain documentation and automate deployments.
