Job summary

Vercel in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the Data team to own the reliability of finance data, handling billing, usage, contracts, and metered products. This full-stack role builds pipelines, transformations, and data models turning raw data into revenue, forecasting, and reporting.

You'll partner with Finance stakeholders to ensure metrics are accurate, set technical direction, and mentor others to raise the engineering bar for financial data infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• Strong SQL and Python skills with production-grade code.
• Hands-on experience with dbt, dimensional modeling, and ELT/ETL workflows.
• Direct experience with Finance data, billing, revenue metrics, or close/forecasting.
• Ability to partner with non-technical stakeholders and translate questions into durable models.
• Strong communication skills and history of technical ownership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Own pipelines that bring billing, usage, and contract data into the warehouse reliably.
• Diagnose data quality and freshness issues at the source.
• Design and maintain dbt models turning raw data into clean datasets for revenue/reporting.
• Set testing and documentation standards for Finance-relevant models.
• Build datasets and semantic models powering Finance dashboards and reports.
• Promote self-service to reduce ad-hoc data requests.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and Revenue to align data with business needs.
• Maintain high engineering standards and mentor other engineers.
