Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Sr Data Engineer to join the founding team of the firm's AI Product Group. This hands-on role is responsible for building scalable, secure, and reliable data infrastructure that powers AI applications and intelligent agents.

The position focuses on developing a governed data foundation, data models, and knowledge layers, enabling AI agents to retrieve and interpret information. Strong Python/SQL skills and data engineering fundamentals are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of hands-on data engineering or software engineering experience.
• Experience with production data pipelines on a modern lakehouse.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and testing practices.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts is not required but helpful.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable batch and incremental data pipelines that transform information into clean datasets.
• Build and optimize data processing layers in a modern lakehouse architecture.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and provenance across data lifecycles.
• Develop scalable data models and identity resolution across enterprise data sources.
• Implement data governance, access controls, and metadata management.
• Develop knowledge graphs and retrieval pipelines for AI applications.
• Support AI data readiness and continuous learning with lineage and feedback loops.
• Own production delivery, monitoring, and operational documentation.
