Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a Data Center Engineering team. Located in any listed office, you will support AMER and global projects, shaping structural infrastructure strategy for a rapidly expanding data center footprint.

You will design resilient, cost-effective structures, justify technical decisions to Senior Management, and drive continuous improvements while maintaining world-class uptime for customers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
• 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• Design and detailing of structural lateral and gravity systems

Responsibilities

• Create, review and release data center Structural Engineering improvements and designs for the next gen data center design
• Provide feedback into Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for structural engineering systems
• Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including review of foundation and structural systems, evaluating superstructure design options, seismic studies, and structural calculation assumptions
• Create, review and release architectural/civil/structural design RFPs
• Manage external architectural/civil/structural design consultants
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP/C/A design engineers
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency
• Manage multiple fast paced projects simultaneously
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs and design consultants; anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
• Collaborate and coordinate with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
