Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Data Center Engineering team. You will lead structural infrastructure strategy and support rapid global data center expansion with hands-on design and collaboration across AWS teams.

You will engage in seismic studies, design reviews, and coordination with architects, MEP/C/A engineers, and external consultants to deliver cost-effective, reliable infrastructure offerings at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
• 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• Design and detailing of structural lateral and gravity systems.

Responsibilities

• Create, review and release data center Structural Engineering improvements and designs for the next gen data center design.
• Provide feedback into Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for structural engineering systems.
• Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including; review of foundation and structural systems, evaluating superstructure design options, performing seismic studies and assessing structural calculation assumptions.
• Create, review and release architectural/civil/structural design RFPs.
• Manage our external architectural/civil/structural design consultants.
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP/C/A design engineers.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs and design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
• Collaborate and coordinate with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
