Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Data Center Engineering team. This role supports AMER and global projects, focusing on structural infrastructure strategy for expanding data center footprints.

You will design, review, and implement robust structural systems to achieve high uptime and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial or commercial engineering within mission critical facilities, plus a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
• 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• Design and detailing of structural lateral and gravity systems

Responsibilities

• Create, review and release data center Structural Engineering improvements and designs for the next gen data center design
• Provide relevant feedback into Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for structural engineering systems
• Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including; review of foundation and structural systems, evaluating superstructure design options, performing seismic studies and assessing structural calculation assumptions
• Create, review and release architectural/civil/structural design RFPs
• Manage our external architectural/civil/structural design consultants
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP/C/A design engineers
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency
• Manage multiple fast paced projects simultaneously
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs and design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
• Collaborate and coordinate with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
