Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a Data Center Sr. PLC Technician to lead on-site and remote activities for paralleling switchgear and PLC controls in mission-critical power applications.

You will guide complex field work, mentor junior staff, and act as a senior escalation resource for troubleshooting. The role requires extensive nationwide travel to client sites, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of low- and medium-voltage systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 7+ years of field experience, or an associate/bachelor with 5+ years.
• Independent field capability for highly complex assignments.
• Hands-on startup and commissioning experience; leading multi-person site teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute complex field assignments involving Paralleling Switchgear and PLC/Relay transfer schemes.
• Lead testing of emergency/standby power systems and complex transfers.
• Configure and troubleshoot generator controls, protective relays, and PLC/ACS communications.
• Travel extensively within the United States and coordinate on-site activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians and provide coaching on safety and documentation.
