ABB Inc. is seeking a Data Center Sr. PLC Technician to lead on-site activities for paralleling switchgear, generator controls, and PLC systems in mission-critical power applications. You will guide junior staff, coordinate complex startups, and maintain strict safety and quality standards.

The role requires extensive travel across the United States and a remote-work model within the US. A strong background in LV/MV switchgear, PLCs, HMIs, and networked controls is essential for success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years field experience with electrical power systems or 5+ with an associate/bachelor degree.
• Independent capability for highly complex startup and commissioning tasks.
• Travel throughout the United States and interact with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex field assignments involving paralleling switchgear and PLC/Relay systems during startup and maintenance.
• Coordinate testing of emergency power systems, transfers, and load management.
• Configure and troubleshoot generator controls, protective relays, and PLC/ACS networks.
• Perform PLC ladder modifications and maintain documentation per change-control processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, assign work, and ensure safety and quality.
• Prepare field service reports, checklists, and customer-facing status updates.
