Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Manager to lead our Infrastructure Operations organization. You will oversee data center facility infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and manage department heads across multiple locations.

You will drive safety, security, availability, and efficiency, plan new builds and expansions, and partner with vendors to meet SLAs while championing continuous improvement and a culture of inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity.
• Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages, or experience as an acting operations manager.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience.
• 10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including facilities managers and engineering operations technicians.
• Attainment of organizational performance goals relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in data center operations.
• Plan and execute Infrastructure Operations for new AWS data center and colocation builds and expansions, including mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Vendor management of data center services providers to meet or exceed SLAs.
• Oversee a preventative maintenance system and adherence to schedules and performance.
• Balance insourcing and outsourcing maintenance tasks to optimize internal skills and cost.
• Handle safety, security, and incident response and resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
