Job summary

Fleet Data Centers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design, development, and implementation of advanced mechanical systems for mega-scale data centers. You will guide cross-functional teams, ensuring scalable, energy-efficient solutions and reliable operations.

Candidate will manage projects across regions, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE, codes, and environmental requirements. Austin, TX-based with travel and remote options as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Building Services engineering or related field (master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
• 8+ years in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years focused on data center design and operations.
• Experience delivering mechanical systems for large-scale data centers: HVAC, cooling, chiller plants, rack-based cooling, fire suppression.
• Extensive experience with mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, CFD) and modeling of thermal/fluid dynamics.
• Expertise in sustainability, energy efficiency, and cost-saving measures for data center systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage internal and external data center design engineering teams.
• Design and develop mechanical systems for large-scale data centers, including HVAC, cooling, and fire protection.
• Provide oversight from concept to commissioning to ensure energy-efficient, high-performance systems.
• Develop cooling solutions to reduce water/energy use and operating costs.
• Drive sustainability initiatives like water conservation and heat reuse.
• Manage multi-site projects across regions to ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with electrical/structural/network teams to integrate systems.
