Job summary

Fleet Data Centers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge mechanical systems for massive data center campuses. You will guide cross-functional teams across regions, focusing on energy-efficient HVAC, cooling, and fire protection systems.

You will mentor engineers, ensure compliance with ASHRAE and regulatory standards, and drive innovative solutions to reduce water and energy use while maintaining high availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Building Services engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with 5+ years in data center design/operations.
• Experience with HVAC, cooling systems, chiller plants, rack-based cooling, and fire suppression systems.
• Proficiency with CAD/3D tools and thermal-fluid analysis software.
• Strong sustainability and energy-efficiency focus for data center systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal and external data center design engineering teams.
• Oversee mechanical system design for large-scale data centers (HVAC, cooling, chiller plants, rack cooling, fire protection).
• Provide design oversight from concept to commissioning, ensuring energy efficiency and performance.
• Develop cooling solutions to reduce water/energy use and costs.
• Drive sustainability initiatives like water conservation and heat reuse.
• Manage multi-site projects across regions and ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with electrical, structural, controls, and operations teams.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to meet quality and safety standards.
• Serve as main technical contact for mechanical systems decisions with leadership.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, codes, and environmental requirements.
• Lead root-cause analysis to improve resilience and performance.
