Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Data Center Mechanical Design Engineer to own the full product life cycle—from concept through detailed design and manufacturing release—for complex data center systems.

You will develop robust mechanical infrastructure, perform analyses, and ensure compliance with codes while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and mentoring peers. This role offers impactful work in hyperscale environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
• Experience in mechanical infrastructure.
• Master's degree or PE license preferred.
• Experience in designing complex modular building scale assemblies with tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Create test plans, perform testing, and validate designs to meet engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot, root cause, and resolve potential technical challenges; influence the roadmap with mechanical/structural expertise.
• Identify and scope projects around innovation opportunities and technology risks.
• Provide technical mentorship and coaching and foster professional growth within the team.
