Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking an experienced Data Center Architect to design and deliver complex infrastructure across network, compute, storage, and telephony. You will collaborate with IT, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure scalable, resilient solutions while maintaining standards and roadmaps.

The role supports Hybrid-Flex work arrangements with remote collaboration and periodic in-person sessions. A strong background in data center technologies and ITIL/ITSM practices is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree required or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs supporting network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure capabilities meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Serve as an infrastructure SME, guiding on emerging technologies and vendors.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter tech.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on data center decisions.
• Execute detailed designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, tuning, and incident resolution.
• Provide expert guidance during complex production incidents for rapid resolution.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines and schedules for efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to maintain roadmaps and standards.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure alignment with architecture and design.
