Job summary

Amazon in Avondale, AZ is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to serve as the technical authority for electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems within the data center. You will lead preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response, acting as the single point of contact for onsite technicians and vendors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
• Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facilities within internal SLA.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and work with the Facility Manager to establish team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for operations personnel and vendor support teams.
• Assist in building new facilities and in projects to increase current facility efficiency.
• Work outside normal business hours for routine maintenance as required, including responding to out-of-hours emergency calls.
