Job summary

Amazon in Canton, MS seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems at a critical facility. You will oversee preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors to maintain peak performance.

You will drive safety, reliability, and efficiency while communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences and supporting capacity planning with IT leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues. Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling, and monitoring systems
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting within SLAs
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and liaise with Facility Manager to set team culture
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
• May assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency
• Work outside of normal hours for maintenance and emergency calls
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
• Coordinate with IT managers and business leaders to manage capacity and safety
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff
• Establish building benchmarks, analyses, and reports on operations and maintenance
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks
