Job summary

T&T is seeking a senior Database Architect to join the NOAA IMS NEFSC project in Falmouth, MA. You will design scalable data models, build a centralized data store, and develop APIs for React apps and PWAs to support regional missions.

Lead modernization efforts, drive data standardization, and collaborate with multiple offices and contractors to deliver robust database solutions. The role requires 6+ years of experience with RDMS, BI, OLTP/OLAP, and diverse DBMS technologies, including

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree.
• 6+ years of experience building, architecting, designing, and modernizing legacy database systems and building new target state architecture.
• Organizational experience in an agile operating model.
• Experience with proof of concepts and technology.
• Ability to architect and model RDMS, BI, OLTP, OLAP, and multiple DBMS technologies; create new schemas for production databases; tune and maintain production environments.
• Programming with SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL (MongoDB), Snowflake; on-prem and cloud (Amazon RDS, AWS Glue, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch); Azure cloud data services.
• Experience with Data Analysis, Data Profiling, Data Flows, and Data Modeling.
• Experience in a Service Oriented Architecture.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit strong leadership in modern database design, architectural principles, and technological modernization.
• Assist in scaling a common validation model for applications.
• Enhance existing database and storage design for optimal efficiency.
• Reengineer database architecture and system design with innovative technologies.
• Implement API architecture for data communication within applications.
• Create detailed documentation and diagrams.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, leadership, and contractors.
• Develop holistic database solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Prototype new technology solutions in the cloud and other modern databases, tools, and designs.
• Participate in defining target state applications and data technology architecture roadmaps.
• Contribute to proposal activities and duties as assigned by managers.
