Job description

The University of Virginia seeks a Senior Data Analyst in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Summary of Duties:

1. Analyze data to draw conclusions, provide sophisticated analysis, and generate reports.
2. Develop and maintain data standards.
3. Assist in business and system re-engineering and architecture development.
4. Act as an organizational consultant on database matters.
5. Serve as a subject matter expert in special projects related to specific data types.
6. Perform molecular biology techniques such as cloning, RT-PCR, and protein interaction assays (ELISA or cell-based assays).
7. Maintain bacterial and mammalian cell cultures.
8. Conduct statistical analysis using R or other packages.
9. Perform bioinformatic analysis using packages like Bioconductor or Python-based tools.
10. Collaborate to develop functional protein assays.
11. Analyze data to identify, interpret, and report trends or patterns.
12. Provide recommendations based on data analysis.
13. Create visualizations, reports, and presentations to communicate findings.
14. Develop content for seminars, forums, and presentations.
15. Present data clearly to stakeholders.
16. Ensure compliance with data management policies, including security and privacy.
17. Perform bioinformatics analyses.
18. Remote work permitted.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 1 year of relevant experience, or
2. Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

Required experience includes:

1. Github, R coding, and genomic sequence analysis.
2. Mass spectrometry methods (ESI, MALDI).
3. Molecular biology and analytical assays.
4. Presenting results.
