Mather Economics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst to join our analytics team. You will play a crucial role in productizing actionable insights from data to optimize revenue, pricing strategies, and customer engagement for our media clients. Responsibilities:
- Create compelling and interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau to communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to both internal teams and external clients.
- Lead the analysis of data from various sources, including web analytics, subscription data, and content performance metrics, to identify key trends, user behaviors, and opportunities for improvement for our clients.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using SQL and Python to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data lake environment in AWS, leveraging Databricks for scalable processing.
- Build and optimize complex SQL queries to perform in-depth analysis and generate meaningful datasets for reporting and further investigation.
- Develop and implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our analytics data.
- Utilize GitHub for version control, collaboration, and documentation of data pipelines, scripts, and analytical projects, ensuring well-organized and maintainable code repositories.
- Document all processes, methodologies, and technical workflows thoroughly, maintaining clear and comprehensive documentation to support team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with consultants, product managers, and engineers to understand client business needs and translate them into analytical requirements.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to answer specific business questions and provide data-backed recommendations related to pricing, subscription models, and content strategy.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in web analytics, data analysis, and visualization, particularly within the media and publishing industry.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a data analyst role, with a strong focus on web analytics or business intelligence.
- Proven expertise in working with large datasets and extracting actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation across large datasets.
- Strong programming skills in Python for data processing and automation.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks for scalable data analytics in a cloud environment.
- Excellent data visualization skills using Tableau, with the ability to create clear, concise, and impactful dashboards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with digital analytics, subscription analytics, and revenue management within the media industry.
- Familiarity with statistical modeling and A/B testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of data warehousing principles and ETL processes.
- Experience with machine learning techniques.
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Google BigQuery, and experience with related data services (e.g., S3, Snowflake).
