Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers, owning architecture and delivering end-to-end data, AI, and application solutions on the Databricks platform. You will lead design decisions, embed with client teams, and ensure production-grade delivery with strong customer empathy.

The role blends engineering with business impact, requiring adaptability, curiosity, and excellent collaboration with engineering, product, and customer relations teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript; familiar with modern frameworks.
• Experience with two+ cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with at least one deep expertise.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• CI/CD for production deployments.
• MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs knowledge.
• End-to-end data architectures combining pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Technical project delivery: scope, timelines, measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies; travel ~20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead production solution delivery with reference architectures and data ingestion.
• Guide transformational big data projects across design, build and deployment.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects ensuring value realization.
• Own architecture decisions for secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to meet needs.
• Provide feedback to product and support for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and drive impact.
• Contribute accelerators and best practices that scale across accounts.
