Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Dam Safety Engineer – FERC IC to join our team in multiple locations across the United States. A licensed PE with dam safety expertise is required, with remote work options and flexible hours for the right candidate.

You will lead dam safety evaluations, manage federal hydroelectric projects, mentor staff, and cultivate client relationships. Strong communication and project management are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering; MS preferred.
• Active PE license in good standing is required.
• 15+ years of engineering consulting experience including FERC Part 12D and dam safety work.
• Experience as FERC-approved Independent Consultant or CDSE; PMFA/L2RA facilitator.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state dam safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; proposal development.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, GeoStudio, AllPile, Rocscience, HEC-RAS.

Responsibilities

• Perform dam safety work including FERC Part 12D inspections and CDSE-type services.
• Lead or participate in PFMA and L2RA workshops.
• Oversee hydrological, geotechnical, and structural dam evaluations.
• Prepare and review DSSMRs, O&M manuals, PSPs, ODSPs, EAPs, STI docs.
• Manage clients, projects, and deliverables; mentor staff.
