Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer - FERC IC to join our team. This role requires a PE license and 15+ years in dam safety with FERC experience, and offers remote work with flexible hours for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include leading PFMA/L2RA workshops, overseeing dam safety evaluations, preparing reports, and managing client relationships across federally regulated hydro projects. Opportunities for training and mentorship are available.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering; MS preferred.
• Active PE license in good standing is required.
• 15+ years of engineering consulting experience including FERC Part 12D, dam safety evaluations, and dam design/analysis.
• Experience as FERC-approved Independent Consultant or CDSE, or eligibility to be approved.
• PMFA/L2RA facilitator experience on a FERC-regulated project or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform dam safety-related work, including FERC Part 12D inspections (CA/PIs) and CDSE dam safety services.
• Lead or participate in PFMA and L2RA workshops.
• Oversee hydrological, geotechnical, and structural evaluations of dams and levees.
• Prepare and review dam safety reports (DSSMRs, O&M Manuals, PSPs, etc.).
• Manage clients, projects, and deliverables.
• Provide dam safety training and lead EAP exercises with clients.
• Conduct meetings, present findings, and advise clients/regulators/boards.
• Lead or support remedial designs for various dam types.
• Mentor junior staff in dam safety.
• Assist in marketing, proposals, cost estimating, and scheduling.
• Assist in subcontractor qualification for dam safety activities.
