Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Dam Safety Engineer with FERC IC expertise to join our nationwide team. This role offers remote work with flexible hours for the right candidate and involves direct client collaboration on federally-regulated hydroelectric projects.

Ideal candidates are licensed PEs with 15+ years of experience in dam safety evaluations, design, and project management, plus strong communication skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, GeoStudio, Rocscience, and HEC-RAS.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (MS preferred)
• Active PE License in good standing
• 15+ years of engineering consulting including FERC Part 12D and dam safety evaluations
• FERC Independent Consultant/CDSE experience or eligible
• PMFA/L2RA Facilitator on FERC-regulated projects or eligible
• Knowledge of federal/state dam safety standards/guidelines
• Strong communication skills, including proposals
• Experience with AutoCAD, GeoStudio, AllPile, Rocscience, HEC-RAS

Responsibilities

• Perform dam safety work including FERC Part 12D inspections
• Lead PFMA and L2RA workshops
• Oversee hydrological, geotechnical, and structural evaluations of dams
• Prepare and review dam safety reports and manuals
• Manage clients, projects, and deliverables
• Provide dam safety training and lead EAP exercises
• Conduct meetings with clients, regulators, or boards
• Lead or support remedial designs for various dam types
• Mentor junior staff on dam safety
• Assist in procurement of subcontractors for dam safety activities
