Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer to lead inspection, evaluation, and design of hydraulic structures such as dams, spillways, and pump stations. The role involves coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, developing design calculations, and delivering project plans and bids.

The candidate should have a B.S. in Structural or Civil Engineering (M.S./Ph.D. preferred), 10 years of Civil/Structural experience, and a California PE or eligibility within one year.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Structural or Civil Engineering; M.S./Ph.D. preferred.
• 10 years of civil/structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer license in California or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Strong background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element analysis.
• Proficient with SAP2000, LS-DYNA, and ANSYS.
• Excellent written and oral communication; able to work independently and in a team.
• Willing to travel to project sites, including overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead large projects within technical specialty and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
• Perform structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures for dams, flood control, hydroelectric facilities.
• Develop construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
• Lead development of project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Lead preparation of design calculations, permit documents, and reports.
• Lead proposals and support other GEI offices with service delivery.
