Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to join our nationwide practice, focusing on inspections, risk assessments, and design projects for hydropower facilities regulated by FERC.

You will lead investigations, engineering analyses, and design work for dams and hydraulic structures. The role offers hybrid work options, collaboration with diverse teams, and opportunities to mentor staff while supporting business development and professional organizations such as ASDSO and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
10+ years of relevant professional experience with dams, water conveyances, or hydropower projects regulated by FERC.
PE license; 5+ years of project management experience with leadership and business development.
FERC Part 12 Dam Safety Program familiarity, emphasis on CAs, PIs, risk assessment.

Responsibilities

Lead design of new and rehabilitated hydraulic structures (dams, spillways, gates, outlet works, etc.).
Perform analyses, evaluations, and designs; develop design options for hydropower and dam safety projects.
Conduct inspections and assessments; participate in risk assessments for regulatory/client needs (CAs, PIs).
Provide technical leadership, QA/QC, mentorship, and project management oversight.
