Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced structural engineer to join our dams and water resources practice. The role focuses on designing, upgrading, and evaluating safety for major water resources facilities across North America.

You will lead project teams, review designs, and mentor staff while conducting in-depth analyses of hydroelectric dams, spillways, and related structures. The position requires field work and occasional travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• 7 to 15+ years’ experience in structural engineering related to dams and water resources.
• Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Experience with structural analysis software (SAP2000/STAAD/RISA/ANSYS, etc.) and AutoCAD.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as structural lead or project/task manager.
• Oversee and review designs developed by staff engineers and mentor staff.
• Analyze concrete gravity dams, arch dams, buttress dams, spillways and related structures for stresses and performance.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, temporary works, and other facilities.
• Develop and evaluate alternatives for new facilities and upgrades.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and contract documents.
