Job summary

GFT is seeking a Dam Engineer to lead medium-to-large scale dam and hydraulic projects across Texas and nearby states. The role emphasizes seepage and dam safety, with responsibilities including proposal support and client engagement.

The candidate should have a PE license, a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, and 8+ years in civil or hydraulic engineering, with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, and EPA SWMM. Hybrid work options may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8+ years in civil, water resources, dam safety, or hydraulic engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, EPA SWMM.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze dam embankments and flood control structures focusing on seepage, slope stability, and safety.
• Design and analyze reinforced concrete hydraulic structures like spillways and stilling basins.
• Analyze hydrology and hydraulics for reservoirs and floodways including dam break and reservoir routing.
• Apply advanced engineering theories to address critical issues and complex projects.
• Lead development of design concepts and criteria, researching large project elements.
• Coordinate large or complex engineering assignments and teams.
• Serve as technical specialist in proposals and client-facing efforts.
• Manage project teams and potential cross-discipline integration.
• Occasionally act as Project/Client/Proposal Manager as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Supervise engineers and technical staff as applicable.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure satisfaction and support business development.
• Prepare engineering memos, reports, drawings, and specs.
• Provide observations during construction phases and cost proposals.
