Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team remotely. Responsibilities include evaluating specimens for testing, performing routine and advanced cytogenetic procedures, and ensuring quality through maintenance and QC.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a relevant science and at least 4 years of cytogenetics experience, with preferred CLIA/Cytogenetics certifications. Flexible to overtime and remote collaboration across sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 4+ years cytogenetics testing experience.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies/procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
