Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our remote US team. The role focuses on FISH-based cytogenetics testing with responsibility for specimen acceptance, complex procedures, instrument monitoring, and maintaining QC.

A pathology-focused analyst with strong teamwork is preferred. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology and 4+ years in cytogenetics, with color vision testing and CLIA compliance knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 4+ years of cytogenetics testing experience.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and CLIA standards.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex cytogenetics procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM ET

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor?s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology 4 years or more of cytogenetics testing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG) ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers;
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Work From Home Requirements

• A dedicated home office space that isn?t shared and meets HIPAA compliance.
• Agree to have your home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report.
• This is a CMS requirement.
• Provide wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
• Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.
